How long is the internship?
You must be within 180 days of separation to participate in Skillbridge (see the Skillbridge website). Lukos requires at least a 90-day commitment to the program, with longer commitments preferred.
What next?
After you apply, we will screen your resume, and if suitable, conduct a phone interview, and possibly an in-person interview. If accepted, we will set up a mutually agreeable start and end date.
Where is the job located?
Our offices are located in Downtown Tampa’s waterfront district, however, given the COVID crisis, remote work is common.
What are the work hours?
Normal work hours are Mon-Fri 8a-5p, and we are flexible regarding your need to fulfill your transition requirements.
What will I learn?
You will learn basic business functions such as recruiting and hiring processes, cost management, business decisions and capture planning, networking and information gathering, while learning the various types of government acquisition strategies and contract vehicles common to this industry, and what working in a civilian corporation is like on a day to day basis.
Am I a good fit?
The ideal fit for an internship is someone who has one or more of the following areas of experience:
- Special Operations Forces operator
- Special Operations Forces enabler
- Staff experience at a Joint Headquarters
- Military Human performance research
- Department of Defense Contracting Officer or Acquisition Officer
- Military analytical programs (e.g. operations research, data analysis)
- Inter-agency experience (e.g. Department of State, USAID, DHS)
These represent areas Lukos is focused on and would be most beneficial for the intern and us. Having a relevant background should lead to a greater understanding of the needs of our customers and how we can serve them.
If you want to learn the intricacies of government contracting, how to manage a business, and how to plan for the future, then this internship is for you.
How will you select interns?
Lukos is a small but growing business. Therefore, we can only currently work with one to two interns at a time. We must be selective about which interns we choose. We will prioritize candidates with backgrounds we think would best benefit Lukos and whose experience we could best support during their transition to the civilian job market. As Lukos grows, we hope to be able to handle more interns.
Will Lukos hire me after the internship?
As a growing company, Lukos is always looking for skilled professionals. We may offer full-time roles to some interns, but we cannot guarantee it. We do endeavor to assist all interns during their transition and help them build marketable skills to work with Lukos or other Government contractors.
